This weekend, I had the privilege of attending the #MoveforYourMind event at Great Penny Social in Walthamstow. It was a day filled with joy, movement, learning, and connection, a perfect reminder of why I love what I do as the owner of Hula With Abs.

From the moment I arrived, the energy in the room was electric. The event, hosted by @jameelajamil, brought together an incredible lineup of speakers, fitness instructors, and performers, all focused on empowering us to move our bodies, prioritise our mental well-being, and celebrate inclusivity.
One of the key takeaways for me? It only takes 15 minutes and 9 seconds of movement to feel the benefits of exercise! This really struck a chord with me, reinforcing how small, consistent actions—like a quick hooping session—can have a huge impact on our health and mental clarity. It’s a reminder I’m excited to share with my own Hula With Abs community: don’t underestimate the power of even short bursts of movement!
Inspiration and Inclusivity
I was particularly inspired by the conversations surrounding inclusivity in fitness. As someone who teaches classes, it was a great reminder that fitness should always be for everyone, no matter their shape, size, or background. Several of the sessions highlighted how fitness spaces can be more accessible and how we, as instructors, can create environments where all people feel empowered to move.

The day was also full of fun and movement! I had a blast twerking with @thisblackwomancan and experiencing The Curve Catwalk with @itstrinanicole, both of which reminded me of the importance of embracing all bodies and celebrating movement in its many forms.
Dance, Laughter, and Connection
No event is complete without a little fun, and the Move for Your Mind event certainly delivered. The disco dance class with @joelledfontaine was a highlight—it felt like the perfect way to let loose and shake off any stress from the week. I also had the chance to hear from @tallyrye, a fitness professional I’ve followed for years, whose message about body positivity and mental health truly resonated with me.
The day ended with a comedy set from @catherinebohart that had me laughing all the way home. Her humour was the perfect way to wrap up such an uplifting experience.
Looking Forward
Attending the Move for Your Mind event left me feeling refreshed, motivated, and inspired to continue building an inclusive and fun fitness space with Hula With Abs. It was a reminder that even small steps—like a quick 15-minute movement session—can lead to big changes in our well-being.
As we move forward, I’m more committed than ever to ensuring that my classes are a space where everyone feels welcome to take part, no matter their fitness level or experience. The power of movement, laughter, and connection is something I want to continue fostering with my Hula With Abs community.

Same time next year? I think so!
